Study of the Role of PDCA Cycle Management in Quality Improvement in Western Pharmacy
Objective To analyze the role of PDCA cycle management as applied to quality improvement in western pharmacy. Methods Twenty pharmacy staff members of the First Rehabilitation Hospital of Shandong Province were selected as study subjects from October 2022 to October 2023. Routine management was implemented from October 2022 to March 2023 as pre-implementation,and PDCA cycle management was implemented from April to October 2023 as post-implementation. One hundred prescriptions were taken for each of the two time periods. Pharmacy man-agement quality scores,management effectiveness,and dispensing error events were compared before and after imple-mentation. Results Post-implementation pharmacy management quality scores were all higher than pre-implementation,and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05). prescription dispensing time and pre-scription dispensing score after implementation were better than before implementation,and the differences were sta-tistically significant (both P<0.05). There were 20 medication dispensing errors before implementation,but no medica-tion dispensing errors after implementation. Conclusion Implementation of PDCA cycle management in quality im-provement of hospital western pharmacy can improve the effectiveness of pharmacy management.
