Evaluating the Effectiveness of a Problem-Based Learning Teaching Approach Combined with a Web-based Communication Tool for Teaching Orthodontics
Objective To analyze the effectiveness of problem-based learning (PBL) teaching methods combined with online communication tools for teaching orthodontics. Methods Sixty interns from the Department of Stomatology of Changsha First Hospital from July 2022 to June 2024 were selected for the study. Randomized lottery grouping method was divided into two groups of thirty in each group. The reference group and used traditional teaching method,and the observation group and used PBL combined with online communication tools teaching. Compared the assess-ment scores,problem solving ability,and teaching satisfaction of the two groups. Results The observation group's as-sessment scores and problem-solving ability were better than those of the reference group,and the differences were statistically significant (both P<0.05). The teaching satisfaction of the observation group was 100.00% (30/30),which was higher than 80.00% (24/30) of the reference group,and the difference was statistically significant (x2=4.630,P<0.05). Conclusion The use of PBL combined with online communication tools in teaching orthodontics to dental in-terns can improve interns' assessment scores,hone their problem-solving skills,and increase teaching satisfaction.
