The Exploration and Practice of PDCA Cycle and OSCE Dualtrack Assessment Model in the Ability Training of Clinical Undergraduate Students in Urology Department
Objective To explore the effect of PDCA cycle combined with objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) dual-track examination mode in the ability training of clinical undergraduate interns in urology. Methods Sev-enty clinical undergraduate interns who practiced in urology in Affiliated Hospital of Youjiang University of Ethnic Medicine from October 2022 to October 2023 were selected and divided into control group (n=35) and observation group (n=35) according to the different teaching mode. The control group received traditional teaching and assessment; The general category of teaching in the observation group is the same as that in the control group, but the detailed teaching measures are designed according to PDCA cycle and assessed by OSCE. The evaluation results and teaching satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results The scores of each dimension of Mini-Clinical Evaluation Exercise (Mini-CEX) in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05). The total score of Mini-CEX in the observation group was 50.26±3.02,which was higher than 54.91±2.41 in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (t=7.049,P<0.05). The sat-isfaction scores and total satisfaction scores of the observation group for the five dimensions of curriculum design ratio-nality,clinical teaching methods,self-learning interest, theoretical and operational mastery, analysis and solution abil-ity of clinical teaching were better than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05). Conclusion The combination of PDCA cycle and OSCE dual-track assessment model can improve the compre-hensive quality, clinical practice ability and clinical teaching satisfaction of clinical undergraduate interns in urology.
