Objective To explore the effects of risk management on the risk events and nursing quality in psychiatric wards. Methods A total of twenty psychiatric ward nurses working in Laiwu Central Hospital of Shandong Health Care Group from March 2021 to May 2023 were selected as the research subjects. Among them, twenty nurses from March 2021 to March 2022 performed traditional nursing management intervention and were set as the reference group; From April 2022 to May 2023,twenty nursing staff were given risk management in addition to traditional nursing manage-ment and set as study groups. The occurrence of nursing risk events, nursing quality scores and total management satis-faction were compared between the two groups. Results After nursing management, the study group did not show nurs-ing defects, accidents, nursing complaints, nursing disputes and other risk events. In the control group, there were 2 nursing defect events,1 accident event,1 nursing dispute event, and 5 nursing risk events. The nursing quality scores of psychiatric ward nurses in the study group were higher compared with those in the reference group, and the differ-ences were statistically significant (all P<0.05). The total satisfaction rate of nursing staff management in the psychiat-ric ward of the study group was 100.00% (20/20),which was higher than 70.00% (14/20) of the reference group, and the difference was statistically significant (x2=4.902,P<0.05). Conclusion During the nursing management of psychiat-ric wards, the rational use of risk management can significantly reduce the occurrence of a series of risk events, and double improve the nursing quality and management satisfaction of psychiatric wards.
