Legendary Quotations(《传奇语录》)is a hand-copied Chinese dictionary from the Joseon Dynasty,a total of 677 different entries were collected in the book,they show distinct colloquial characteristics.After investigation and sorting,this paper sorts out and analyses three kinds of yi-wen(异文)in the book:vulgar writing,different modes of construction and record pronunciation;examines and corrects the errors in four aspects of categorisation,word segmentation,transcription and interpretation;and points out that the reasons for the formation of yi-wen and the errors in the whole book are related to the following three aspects:the inheritance of Chinese vulgar characters,the influence of the Korean language,and arbitrary copying for convenience.The Chinese characters in this book are valuable in promoting the study of extra-territorial Chinese characters and the collation of related ancient books.
