Fibroblasts,as the primary connective tissue cells, play a crucial role in the formation and development of keloids through the excessive production of the extracellular matrix(ECM),inhibition of ECM degradation, transformation into myofibroblasts, and complex interactions with inflammatory factors and immune cells. This review summarizes the role of fibroblasts in key processes of the pathogenesis of keloids, providing novel insights and strategies for the treatment of keloids.
