Research progress of chronic kidney disease and cerebral small vessel disease
Chronic kidney disease(CKD)is a risk factor for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The gradual decline in renal function in CKD patients leads to widespread physiological, biochemical, and hematological changes, which can also affect the cerebral small vessels and subsequently cause small vessel-related cerebral diseases. This review explores the mechanisms linking CKD to cerebral small vessel disease, the correlation between CKD and subtypes of cerebral small vessel disease, the relationship between CKD and total burden scores of cerebral small vessel disease,as well as the association between CKD and cognitive dysfunction.
