Evaluation of therapeutic effect of total parenteral nutrition support therapy on premature and critically ill neonates
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of total parenteral nutrition support therapy on premature and critically ill neonates. Methods 86 cases of premature and critically ill neonates were divided into group A(43 cases)and group B(43 cases)according to different treatments.Group A received conventional nutritional support therapy, and group B received total parenteral nutrition support therapy.Comparison was made on clinical treatment time(nutritional support time, time to full enteral feeding, birth weight recovery time, hospitalization time),nutritional indicators(albumin, globulin, prealbumin),growth and development indicators(weight gain, height growth, head circumference growth),adverse events(gastrointestinal dysfunction, hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia, azotemia),and prognosis(death and cure)between the two groups. Results The nutritional support time of group B was(9.54±2.76)d,the time to full enteral feeding was(7.04±1.45)d,the birth weight recovery time was(5.52±1.03)d,and the hospitalization time was(12.41±1.97)d,which were shorter than(12.47±3.68),(8.68±1.93),(7.46±1.15),and(14.72±2.14)d of group A(P<0.05).After treatment, group B had albumin of(38.70±3.65)g/L,globulin of(22.18±2.73)g/L and prealbumin of(171.91±16.03)g/L,which were higher than(33.36±2.79),(18.32±2.26)and(145.25±16.82)g/L in group A(P<0.05).The weight gain, height growth, head circumference growth of group B were(0.52±0.16)kg,(1.52±0.43)cm and(1.19±0.36)cm,which were greater than(0.38±0.11)kg,(1.24±0.30)cm and(1.02±0.27)cm of group A(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse events in group B was 4.65%,which was lower than 18.60%in group A(P<0.05).The cure rate of 93.02%in group B was higher than 74.42%in group A(P<0.05).There was no difference in death rate between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Total parenteral nutrition support therapy has good efficacy in the treatment of premature and critically ill neonates, which can shorten the clinical treatment time, improve the nutritional indicators of neonates, promote their growth and development, reduce the incidence of adverse events and improve the prognosis of neonates, and is worthy of implementation.
