Analysis of the reasons for drug returns in hospital ward pharmacy and its corresponding strategies
Objective To explore the reasons for drug returns in hospital ward pharmacy and its corresponding strategies.Methods Retrospectively analyzed 1500 refund orders,analyzed the reasons for drug returns,and proposed corresponding solutions.Results Reasons for 1500 refund orders:adverse drug reactions(23.73%)were the most common,followed by poor patient compliance(23.00%),drug returns to patient discharges(10.40%),and pharmacy reasons(9.67%).The types of 1500 refund orders,the anti infective drugs(29.07%)were the most common,followed by digestive system drugs(23.33%),antipyretic and analgesic drugs(23.00%),and cardiovascular system drugs(9.94%).Departments of 1500 refund orders,the first ward of the oncology department has the highest drug return rate(15.20%),followed by emergency intensive care unit(EICU)(11.73%),the second ward of the oncology department(9.93%),and the intensive care unit(ICU)(8.07%).Time periods of 1500 refund orders,the number of refund orders from November 2022 to March 2022(30.40%)was the most,but the trend was generally rise compared to March to July 2021(9.93%),and the number of refund orders from August to December 2021(22.47%)was higher than that from January to May 2022(14.53%).Conclusion Based on the analysis of the reasons for drug returns in the hospital's ward pharmacy,it can be concluded that the reasons for drug returns are determined by the patients themselves,doctors,nursing staff and pharmacists,etc.Therefore,measures are taken to improve the professional knowledge of nursing staff,doctors,pharmacists,etc.,reduce the error rate of doctors giving medical orders,and strictly handle prescriptions from the source.Strengthening the control of pharmacies in hospitals can significantly reduce the number of drug returns and also reduce the loss rate of hospital drug returns.In addition,it is particularly important to popularize the knowledge of patients,as their self-awareness increases,leading to a decrease in drug rejection and an increase in treatment compliance.By improving the system and program management of drug returns,it is beneficial for hospitals to strengthen the management of drug returns in pharmacies,making the process more standardized and orderly.
