Evaluation of curative effect of traditional Chinese medicine mud-moxibustion combined with pestle scupuncture therapy on patients with cold-dampness obstruction type lumbar disc herniation
Objective To observe the effect of traditional Chinese medicine mud-moxibustion combined with pestle scupuncture therapy on patients with cold-dampness obstruction type lumbar disc herniation(LDH).Methods 109 patients with cold-dampness obstruction type lumbar disc herniation were divided into a control group(54 cases)and an observation group(55 cases)according to random numerical table. The observation group was treated with pestle scupuncture therapy followed by traditional Chinese medicine mud-moxibustion,while the control group was treated with pestle scupuncture therapy. Both groups were compared in terms of therapeutic effect, excellent rate of Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)score after treatment, visual analogue scale(VAS)score,JOA score, straight leg raising angle, serum thromboxane B2(TXB2),serum interleukin(IL)-1β,and serum 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT)before and after treatment. Results The total effective rate of treatment was 96.4%,which was higher than 83.3%in the observation group(P<0.05).The excellent rate of JOA score of the observation group was 96.4%,which was higher than 38.9%of the control group, and the difference was significant(P<0.05).After treatment,VAS score in both groups was lower than that before treatment, and JOA score and straight leg raising angle were higher than those before treatment;VAS score of(1.35±0.87)points in the observation group was lower than(4.09±1.43)points in the control group;JOA score of(25.2±3.55)points and straight leg raising angle of(76.69±14.04)°in the observation group were higher than(14.11±4.84)and(51.31±17.49)° in the control group;the difference was significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the serum TXB2,IL-1β and 5-HT decreased in both groups compared with those before treatment;the observation group had serum TXB2 of(24.97±1.96)ng/ml,IL-1β of(83.28±7.44)μg/ml and 5-HT of(456.32±22.96)ng/ml,which were lower than(31.36±3.10)ng/ml,(116.17±10.41)μg/ml and(649.64±38.41)ng/ml in the control group;the difference was significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine mud-moxibustion combined with pestle acupuncture therapy can effectively relieve the pain symptoms of patients with cold-dampness obstruction type lumbar disc herniation and improve their lumbar function.
