Analysis of efficacy and adverse reactions of citalopram and alprazolam in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder
Objective To explore the efficacy and adverse reactions of citalopram and alprazolam in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder. Methods A total of 88 patients with generalized anxiety disorder were divided into the reference group and the experimental group according to odd or even number at the end of medical record, with 44 cases in each group. The reference group was treated with alprazolam, and the experimental group was treated with citalopram. The clinical efficacy, sleep quality, anxiety and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results After 6 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate of the experimental group and the reference group were 95.45%and 90.91%,the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).After 6 weeks of treatment, the scores of sleep quality, sleep efficiency, sleep latency, sleep disorder, sleep time, hypnotic drugs and daytime dysfunction in the experimental groups were(1.12±0.04),(0.53±0.11),(1.21±0.12),(1.22±0.26),(0.71±0.14),(0.45±0.12)and(0.48±0.34)points,which were lower than(1.36±0.16),(0.88±0.14),(1.58±0.23),(1.69±0.28),(1.23±0.31),(1.15±0.15)and(1.22±0.36)points in the reference group. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After 1,2,4 and 6 weeks of treatment, there was no significant difference in self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)score between the experimental group and the reference group(P>0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the experimental group was 4.55%,which was significantly lower than 27.27%in the reference group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion For patients with generalized anxiety disorder, the clinical efficacy of citalopram and alprazolam is comparable, and both can effectively improve anxiety. However, compared with alprazolam, citalopram can significantly improve the sleep quality of patients with generalized anxiety disorder and has fewer adverse reactions,so it is worth widely promoting and applying in clinical practice.
