Effect of high-frequency repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation on behavioral disorders in patients with schizophrenia
Objective To analyze the effect of rTMS on behavioral disorders in patients with schizophrenia. Methods 64 patients with schizophrenia were randomly divided into rTMS group and control group, with 32 cases in each group. The control group received conventional drug therapy, and the rTMS group received high-frequency rTMS therapy in addition to conventional drug therapy. The Positive and Negative Symptom Scale(PANSS),Personal and Social Performance Scale(PSP),and Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status(RBANS)score at different time points were compared. Results The negative symptom score and total score decreased with time in both groups, and the difference between groups was significant(P<0.05).The PANSS negative symptom score in the rTMS group were lower than that in the control group at the end of treatment and 4 weeks after treatment, and the total PANSS score in the rTMS group was lower than that in the control group at 4 weeks after treatment(P<0.05).The time and group interaction effect for PANSS negative symptom scores was significant(P<0.05),suggesting that there were differences in the change of negative symptom scores over time in different groups of patients. The PSP and RBANS scores tended to increase over time(P<0.05).The PSP scores in the rTMS group were(56.7±12.3)and(59.3±10.6)points at the end of treatment and 4 weeks after treatment, which were higher than(47.2±9.3)and(50.5±11.7)points in the control group;the RBANS score was(71.9±13.6)points at 4 weeks after treatment, which was higher than(65.6±11.1)points in the control group(P<0.05).There was a significant time and group interaction effect for PSP scores(P<0.05)and no time and group interaction effect for RBANS(P>0.05).Conclusion High-frequency rTMS can alleviate negative symptoms and improve social and cognitive functions in patients with schizophrenia, and has high application value in the treatment of schizophrenia.
