Analysis of antibacterial activity of biapenem combined with ceftazidime against pandrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii
Objective To analyze the antibacterial activity of biapenem combined with ceftazidime against pandrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii(PDRAB).Methods 76 strains of PDRAB were collected. The minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)of biapenem and ceftazidime against 76 strains of PDRAB were determined by agar dilution method. The combined drug sensitivity test were determined by chessboard method, and the combined effect of biapenem and ceftazidime against PDRAB was determined by calculating the fractional inhibitory concentration index(FICI).The sensitivity and MIC of biapenem and ceftazidime against 76 strains of PDRAB were compared, and the in vitro synergic antibacterial activity of biapenem combined with ceftazidime against 76 strains of PDRAB was analyzed. Results The drug sensitivity rates of biapenem and ceftazidime against 76 strains of 76 PDRAB were 48.68%(37/76)and 34.21%(26/76),both had similar susceptibility to PDRAB(P>0.05).The MIC of biapenem combined with ceftazidime against 76 strains of PDRAB was lower than that of biapenem and ceftazidime alone. The synergistic antibacterial activity of biapenem combined with ceftazidime on 76 strains of PDRAB in vitro was mainly partial synergistic effect(52.63%),followed by synergistic effect(42.11%),additive effect(2.63%),no correlation effect(2.63%),and no antagonistic effect. Conclusion Biapenem combined with ceftazidime against PDRAB showed a synergistic effect or partial synergistic effect, has significant in vitro synergistic antibacterial activity.
