The influence of the choice of delivery position on the duration of labor process of primiparous women
Objective To explore the influence of the choice of delivery position on the duration of labor process of primiparous women. Methods A study was conducted on 160 primiparous women, and they were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group using a random number table method, each with 80 cases. The control group delivered in traditional position, and the observation group delivered in free position. The fetal orientation, delivery mode, duration of labor for women in normal delivery, use of oxytocin, incidence of cervical edema, postpartum hemorrhage and neonatal asphyxia were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence of abnormal fetal orientation and conversion rate to cesarean section in the observation group were 7.50%and 7.50%,which were lower than 18.75%and 18.75%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The duration of first, second and third stages of labor in the observation group were(300.38±135.33),(164.59±70.30)and(42.33±16.66)min,which were shorter than(441.20±165.59),(202.29±78.84)and(68.98±22.38)min in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of cervical edema(6.25%)and the utilization rate of oxytocin(7.50%)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(16.25%and 20.00%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage and neonatal asphyxia between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Choosing a free delivery position for primiparous women can shorten the duration of labor process, reduce the incidence of abnormal fetal orientation and conversion rate to cesarean section, reduce the use of oxytocin, and improve cervical edema. It is a delivery position worthy promotion and has high clinical value.
