Observation on the effect of combined antibiotic therapy in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and acquired pneumonia
Objective To study the effect and practical value of combined antibiotic therapy in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)and acquired pneumonia. Methods 164 elderly patients with COPD and acquired pneumonia were divided into an experimental group and a reference group by random number table method, with 82 cases in each group. The reference group received amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium for anti-infection treatment, and the experimental group received amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium combined with azithromycin for anti-infection treatment. The clinical efficacy and length of hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Results The total clinical effective rate of the experimental group was 100.00%,which was significantly higher than 86.59%of the reference group, and the difference between the two groups was significant(P<0.05).The length of hospital stay in the experimental group was(10.29±3.29)d,which was significantly shorter than(14.39±3.65)d in the reference group, and the difference between the two groups was significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Combined antibiotic therapy for elderly patients with COPD and acquired pneumonia can significantly improve the clinical efficacy of patients and shorten the length of hospital stay.
