Observation on the effect of Banxia Houpu Decoction on secretory otitis media
Objective To study the clinical effect of Banxia Houpu Decoction on secretory otitis media.Methods 78 patients with secretory otitis media were randomly divided into a study group and a control group,each with 39 cases.The control group was treated with conventional western medicine,and the study group was treated with Banxia Houpu Decoction.The traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score,treatment effect,occurrence of adverse reactions,and levels of inflammatory factors[procalcitonin(PCT),C-reactive protein(CRP),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)]were compared between the two groups.Results The scores of ear pain,tinnitus,aural fullness,middle ear effusion and hearing loss were(0.50±0.24),(0.42±0.16),(0.75±0.23),(0.56±0.14)and(0.57±0.16)points in the study group,which were significantly lower than(1.56±0.43),(1.62±0.48),(1.72±0.35),(1.40±0.26)and(1.47±0.25)points in the control group,and there was statistical value(P<0.05).The total effective rate of the study group was 97.44%,which was significantly higher than 82.05%of the control group,and there was statistical value(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the study group was 2.56%,which was significantly lower than 15.38%in the control group,and there was statistical value(P<0.05).After treatment,the study group had PCT of(0.18±0.05)ng/ml,CRP of(3.55±0.33)mg/L,TNF-α of(30.51±8.03)pg/ml,which were significantly lower than(0.36±0.09)ng/ml,(5.03±0.35)mg/L,(45.62±9.34)pg/ml in the control group,and there was statistical value(P<0.05).Conclusion In the treatment of secretory otitis media,Banxia Houpu Decoction can improve the clinical symptoms of patients,and help to reduce the level of inflammatory factors,so as to improve the therapeutic effect.
