Analysis of the effect of manual reduction on clinical efficacy and symptom relief time in patients with otolithiasis
Objective To explore the effect of manual reduction on clinical efficacy and symptom relief time in patients with otolithiasis. Methods 70 patients with otolithiasis were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group by random numerical table, each with 35 cases. The control group was treated with betahistine mesylate, while the observation group was combined with manual reduction based on the control group. The symptom relief time, severity of illness, recurrence, adverse reactions, and quality of life were compared between the two groups of patients. Results The duration of relief for dizziness and nystagmus in the observation group were(4.26±0.71)and(3.81±0.67)d,which were shorter than(7.65±1.42)and(6.93±1.20)d in the control group(P<0.05).The dizziness handicap inventory(DHI)score and vestibular symptom index(VSI)score of the two groups decreased compared to those before treatment;the observation group had DHI score of(64.22±1.16)points and VSI score of(29.65±1.32)points,which were lower than(70.29±2.88)and(40.33±2.72)points in the control group(P<0.05).The recurrence rate of the observation group was 5.71%,which was lower than 22.86%of the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 2.86%,which was lower than 22.86%in the control group(P<0.05).The scores of social function, physical function,role-emotional,role-physical,mental health, vitality, general health and bodily pain in the observation group were(85.67±1.58),(85.67±1.82),(86.48±2.33),(87.18±1.83),(87.46±1.82),(86.25±2.14),(86.95±2.16)and(86.73±2.05)points,which were higher than(81.35±2.15),(82.67±2.26),(82.72±2.81),(83.15±2.37),(83.27±2.36),(84.56±2.28),(82.88±2.34)and(82.43±2.66)points in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Manual reduction can improve the condition of patients with otolithiasis, accelerate the relief of adverse symptoms, and improve the quality of life of patients, which is worth promoting and applying.
