The impact of NRS2002 nutritional assessment on clinical outcomes of orthopedic inpatients
Objective To explore the impact of nutritional risk screening 2002 (NRS2002) nutritional assessment on clinical outcomes of orthopedic inpatients. Methods A total of 90 orthopedic inpatients were divided into a study group and a control group according to random number table method, with 45 cases in each group. Patients in the control group received routine intervention during hospitalization, while patients in the study group were added with the intervention guided by NRS2002 nutrition assessment on the basis of the control group. Patients in both groups were compared in terms of hospitalization indicators (hospitalization time, hospitalization expenses, bed activity time, and off-bed activity time),nutritional indicators (hemoglobin, albumin, and prealbumin) on admission and at 3 d after surgery, perioperative complications (incision infection, respiratory infection, deep vein thrombosis). Results In the study group, the hospitalization time was (11.23±2.12) d,the bed activity time was (15.01±3.65) h and the off-bed activity time was (35.01±3.65) h,which were shorter than (13.62±1.98) d,(16.98±3.08) h and (43.26±5.18) h in the control group;the hospitalization expenses of (4.02±1.35) ten thousand yuan was less than (5.69±1.87) ten thousand yuan in the control group;the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). At 3 d after surgery, the study group had hemoglobin of (115.01±16.98) g/L,albumin of (38.66±3.67) g/L and prealbumin of (223.51±26.55) mg/L,which were significantly higher than (105.63±15.81) g/L,(36.02±2.65) g/L and (185.63±19.89) mg/L in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). In the study group,1 case of wound infection and 1 case of respiratory tract infection occurred perioperatively;in the control group,3 cases of wound infection,4 cases of respiratory tract infection and 1 case of deep vein thrombosis occurred perioperatively. The perioperative complication rate of 4.44% (2/45) in the study group was significantly lower than 17.78% (8/45) in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Intervention based on NRS2002 nutritional assessment for orthopedic inpatients can accelerate the perioperative recovery process, improve patient nutritional status, and reduce the incidence of various complications, which has certain promotion and application value.
