Study on the effect of rehabilitation training for elderly patients with rheumatism
Objective To explore the effect of rehabilitation training for elderly patients with rheumatism. Methods 80 elderly patients with rheumatism were selected and randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group,with 40 patients in each group. The control group received routine rehabilitation training,while the experimental group added cognitive training,mindfulness training,and self-management education on the basis of the control group. The pain levels,joint function,quality of life,cognitive function and psychological status before and after rehabilitation training were compared between the two groups. Results After rehabilitation training,the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS),Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ),Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) scores in both groups were lower than those before rehabilitation training,while the 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores were higher than those before rehabilitation training;the experimental group had VAS score of (2.69±0.87) points,HAQ score of (0.63±0.15) points,HAMD score of (7.69±2.54) points,and HAMA score of (6.94±2.38) points,which were all lower than (3.74±1.01),(0.87±0.18) and (10.42±2.87),and (9.35±2.61) pointsin the control group;the experimental group had SF-36 score of (64.72±6.83) points and MMSE score of (28.31±2.19) points,which were higher than (58.39±7.21) and (26.48±2.34) points in the control group;the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Cognitive training,mindfulness training and self-management education on the basis of routine rehabilitation training for elderly patients with rheumatism can significantly improve pain level,joint function,quality of life,cognitive function and psychological state,which is worth promoting and applying in clinical practice.
