Analysis of application value of head-neck-shoulder foam in position fixation of radiotherapy for cervical and thoracic upper esophageal cancer
Objective To explore the application value of head-neck-shoulder foam in position fixation of radiotherapy for cervical and thoracic upper esophageal cancer. Methods 62 patients with cervical and thoracic upper esophageal cancer as research subjects were divided into foam group (31 cases) and head-neck-shoulder mask group (31 cases) according to different postural fixation methods. Both groups were treated with intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).The head-neck-shoulder mask group was fixed with conventional transparent plastic pillow and head-neck-shoulder mask during radiotherapy, while the foam group was given head-neck-shoulder foam and head-neck-shoulder mask. The positioning error and treatment effect of the two groups were compared. Results Compared with the head-neck-shoulder mask group[(1.83±1.47),(1.39±0.98) mm],the positioning errors in the X-axis and Z-axis in the foam group[(0.63±0.59),(0.23±0.46) mm]were smaller, and there was statistical significance (P<0.05).There was statistically significant difference in positioning errors in the Y axis between the two groups (P>0.05).Compared with the head-neck-shoulder mask group (96.77%,93.55%,96.77%),the repeatability, fitness and comfort in the experimental group (67.74%,58.06%,and 58.06%) were increased, and there was statistical significance (P<0.05).Conclusion The head-neck-shoulder foam can change the positioning error of X-axis and Z-axis in the position fixation of radiotherapy for cervical and thoracic upper esophageal cancer,so that the shoulder can be supported. Therefore, the fixation method of foams combined with head-neck-shoulder mask in radiotherapy for cervical and thoracic upper esophageal cancer is worthy of further recommendation.
