Effect of thunder-fire moxibustion combined with traditional Chinese medicine acupoint application on gastrointestinal function and abdominal distension and pain in postoperative patients with uterine fibroids
Objective To study the effect of thunder-fire moxibustion combined with traditional Chinese medicine acupoint application on gastrointestinal function and abdominal distension and pain in postoperative patients with uterine fibroids.Methods 60 patients with uterine fibroids as study subjects were divided into an observation group and a control group according to random numerical table,with 30 cases in each group.Both groups underwent laparoscopic myomectomy.The control group was treated with Chinese medicine acupoint application after surgery,and the observation group was treated with thunder-fire moxibustion combined with traditional Chinese medicine acupoint application after surgery.The gastrointestinal function recovery (postoperative bowel sound recovery time,first exhaust time,first defecation time),severity of postoperative abdominal distension,severity of abdominal pain and sleep quality[Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score]were compared between the two groups.Results The postoperative bowel sound recovery time,first exhaust time and first defecation time were (15.69±1.47),(17.64±1.58),and (36.54±2.25) h in the observation group,which were shorter than (17.12±1.63),(19.03±1.72),and (38.27±2.43) h in the control group (P<0.05).At 3 d postoperatively,the severity of abdominal pain of abdominal distension in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (Z=2.354,P=0.019<0.05).At 3 d postoperatively,the severity of abdominal pain of abdominal pain in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (Z=2.602,P=0.009<0.05).At 3 d postoperatively,the PSQI score of (9.72±0.97) points in the observation group was lower than (10.38±1.05) points in the control group (t=2.529,P=0.014<0.05).Conclusion The use of thunder-fire moxibustion with traditional Chinese medicine acupoint application can accelerate the recovery of gastrointestinal function in postoperative patients with uterine fibroids,while effectively improving the severity of abdominal distension and abdominal pain as well as the sleep quality of patients to promote their recovery.
