The role of high-flow oxygen inhalation in the management of respiratory health in the elderly
Objective To observe the role of high-flow oxygen inhalation in the management of respiratory health in the elderly. Methods 64 patients with respiratory failure were divided into a control group(conventional treatment)and an observation group(high-flow oxygen inhalation)using a random number table method, each consisting of 32 paitents. The blood gas analysis indicators, airway humidification effect and clinical efficacy were compared between the two groups. Results In the observation group, the partial pressure of oxygen was(95.26±4.35)mm Hg(1 mm Hg=0.133 kPa),the partial pressure of carbon dioxide was(36.81±1.43)mm Hg and the blood oxygen saturation was(94.39±3.82)%,which were better than(90.13±3.56)mm Hg,(41.26±3.21)mm Hg and(89.61±5.17)%in the control group, and the difference was significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the cough difficulty and sputum trait scores in both groups were lower than those before treatment;the cough difficulty and sputum trait scores were(1.23±0.12)and(1.53±0.43)points in the observation group, which were lower than(2.45±0.44)and(2.45±0.38)points in the control group;the difference was significant(P<0.05).The total effective rate of the observation group was 96.88%(31/32),which was higher than 75.00%(24/32)of the control group, and the difference was significant(P<0.05).Conclusion High-flow oxygen inhalation has outstanding advantages in the management of respiratory health in the elderly, especially for elderly patients with respiratory failure. It can improve blood gas indicators, dilute sputum, and enhance clinical efficacy. It is worth paying attention to and promoting its application in clinical practice.
