The effect of Tongdu Xingnao acupuncture combined with myoelectric biofeedback on cerebral palsy and its influence on cerebral blood flow and muscle spasm
Objective To explore the effect of Tongdu Xingnao acupuncture combined with myoelectric biofeedback on cerebral palsy and its influence on cerebral blood flow and muscle spasm. Methods 93 children with cerebral palsy were selected and divided into an experimental group (n=47) and a control group (n=46) by random numerical table. The control group was treated with myoelectric biofeedback, and the experimental group was treated with Tongdu Xingnao acupuncture on the basis of the control group. Comparison was made on clinical efficacy, cerebral blood flow[middle cerebral artery (MCA),basilar artery (BA),anterior cerebral artery (ACA),vertebral artery (VA)]velocity, muscle spasm grading, muscle strength, and modified Ashworth scale (MAS) score and fine motor function measure scale (FMFM) score between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of 89.36% in the experimental group was higher than 71.74% in the control group, and the difference was significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the blood flow velocity in the MCA,BA,ACA and VA in both groups were higher than those before treatment;the blood flow velocity in the MCA,BA,ACA and VA were (59.51±5.12),(40.25±6.14),(48.65±6.24) and (25.01±3.35) cm/s in the experimental group, which were higher than (53.21±4.68),(36.52±6.24),(42.25±6.31) and (22.25±3.30) cm/s in the control group;and the difference was significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the muscle spasm grading in both groups was better than that before treatment, and the experimental group was better than the control group. The difference was significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of gastrocnemius, hamstring and adductor muscles in both groups were lower than those before treatment;in the experimental group, the score of gastrocnemius muscle was (2.51±0.52) points, the score of hamstring muscle was (0.88±0.41) points and score of adductor muscle was (1.71±0.30) points, which were lower than (2.85±0.63),(1.16±0.51) and (1.86±0.32) points in the control group;the difference was significant (P<0.05). After treatment,FMFM score in both groups was higher than that before treatment, and FMFM score of (152.25±17.45) points in the experimental group was higher than (137.56±16.35) points in the control group. The difference was significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Tongdu Xingnao acupuncture combined with myoelectric biofeedback has significant therapeutic effect on children with cerebral palsy, and can effectively improve cerebral blood flow, muscle spasm and motor function.
