Effect of acupuncture and moxibustion,massage and Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction on the improvement of cervical function and pain severity in patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy
Objective To study the effect of acupuncture and moxibustion,massage and Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction on the improvement of cervical function and pain severity in patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy. Methods 60 patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy were selected and divided into a control group and an observation group using a random numerical table method,with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with acupuncture and moxibustion and massage,while the observation group was treated with acupuncture and moxibustion and massage combined with Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction. The cervical range of motion,cervical curvature,pain severity,and degree of cervical dysfunction after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment,the cervical range of motion and cervical curvature in both groups were obviously higher than those before treatment;the observation group had cervical range of motion of (58.94±0.82)° and cervical curvature of (44.56±4.28)°,which were higher than (56.52±0.71) and (41.76±4.13)° in the control group;there was a significant difference (P<0.05). After treatment,the visual analogue scale (VAS) score and neck disability index (NDI) score in both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment;the observation group had VAS score of (2.12±0.46) points and NDI score of (8.02±1.64) points,which were lower than (3.05±1.1) and (13.46±1.52) points in the control group;there was a significant difference (P<0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture and moxibustion and massage combined with Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction is effective for the treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy,which can effectively improve the cervical range of motion,relieve pain and reduce the degree of cervical dysfunction.
