Investigation and analysis of traditional Chinese medicine constitution identification in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia
Objective To understand the distribution of traditional Chinese medicine constitutions of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)patients in this area,so as to provide scientific guidance for clinical treatment of BPH patients. Methods A total of 202 BPH patients(observation group)and 415 healthy male subjects(control group)were selected for the study, and all subjects were investigated for their traditional Chinese medicine constitutions. The distribution of traditional Chinese medicine constitutions of the subjects in the two groups was analyzed and compared. Results The Kruskal-wallis rank sum test yielded that there was no statistically significant difference in the ages of the subjects between the two groups(P>0.05).Among 202 BPH patients in the observation group, there were 38 cases of Qi-deficiency constitution,50 cases of Yang-deficiency constitution,11 cases of Yin-deficiency constitution,15 cases of damp-heat constitution,28 cases of phlegm-dampness constitution,2 cases of special constitution,31 cases of blood-stasis constitution,19 cases of Qi-stagnation constitution, and 8 cases of peace constitution.Among them,Yang-deficiency constitution accounted for the highest proportion,up to 24.75%.Among 415 healthy male subjects in the control group, there were 125 cases of Qi-deficiency constitution,2cases of Yang-deficiency constitution,25cases of Yin-deficiency constitution,51 cases of damp-heat constitution,73 cases of phlegm-dampness constitution,15 cases of special constitution,54 cases of blood-stasis constitution,50 cases of Qi-stagnation constitution, and 20 cases of peace constitution.Among them,Yang-deficiency constitution accounted for the highest proportion,up to 24.75%.The percentage of Qi-deficiency constitution of 18.81%in the observation group was lower than 30.12%in the control group;the percentage of Yang-deficiency of 24.75%in the observation group was higher than 0.48%in the control group;the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the percentages of Yin-deficiency constitution,damp-heat constitution,phlegm-dampness constitution, special constitution,blood-stasis constitution,Qi-stagnationconstitution and peace constitution between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion BPH patients generally have traditional Chinese medicine constitution bias, mainly Qi deficiency constitution and Yang deficiency constitution, and compared with healthy men, there are obvious differences in the distribution of some biased constitution in BPH patients.According to the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine constitution identification of BPH patients, more targeted intervention plans can be formulated, and appropriate traditional Chinese medicine suggestions can be given to improve the scientificity and rationality of the treatment plan,so as to further improve the clinical therapeutic effect of these patients.
