Research Progress on the Role of Optical Coherence Tomography in Intravascular Lithotripsy During Percutaneous Coronary Intervention for the Treatment of Calcified Coronary Plaques
Coronary artery calcification is associated with increased difficulty and complications during interventional procedures, and adequate pretreatment prior to stent placement might be effective in reducing the incidence of adverse outcomes.Intravascular lithotripsy(IVL)is effective in disrupting calcified plaques, facilitating optimal stent delivery and expansion.Optical coherence tomography(OCT)can accurately identify calcified lesions, assess the effect of pretreatment with IVL,and guide the selection of treatment strategies. The aim of this article is to summarize the recent research progresses on the role of OCT in IVL for the treatment of calcified coronary lesions.
