Research Progress of Typical Rare Earth Metals for Catalytic Oxidation of Volatile Organic Compounds
Volatile organic compounds(VOCs)are important precursors involved in the formation of ozone and secondary aerosols, and their biological toxicity and photochemical pollution have received widespread attention.Catalytic oxidation is the main technology for the prevention and control of VOCs pollution.Rare earth materials have attracted attention in the catalytic oxidation of VOCs due to their rich surface lattice defects, good high temperature stability, and excellent oxygen storage/release ability. This article reviews the use of typical rare earth materials for thermal catalysis, photocatalysis, and photothermal catalytic treatment of VOCs,which elabo-rates the sources, hazards, and catalytic oxidation mechanisms of VOCs,discusses the preparation methods, structural characteristics, and chemical states of different typical rare earth materials for catalytic oxidation of VOCs.Moreover,it clarifies the advantages of rare earth materials and analyzes the current problems,in order to provide reference for the application and promotion of rare earth materials in VOCs governance.
