Chronic heart failure(CHF)is the end stage of cardiovascular diseases and the most important cause of death.It is one of the two major challenges in cardiovascular field in the 21st century.The occurrence and development of sarcopenia are related to the age,chronic diseases and cancer;and studies have shown that sarcopenia and CHF have an interactive relationship.With the aging of the population,the economic and family burden caused by CHF with sarcopenia will further increase.CHF-related sarcopenia may be associated with malnutrition,decreased muscle blood flow,inflammation,insulin resistance,hormone dysfunction,autophagy,and apoptosis.Currently,there is no targeted treatment for this disease.The main treatment methods include lifestyle interventions,dietary changes,drugs,hormones and other measures.This article summarizes the evaluation and early screening,pathogenesis,treatment and intervention measures of CHF with sarcopenia,providing ideas for the prevention and treatment.
