Atrial fibrillation(AF)is the most common cardiac arrhythmia, significantly increasing the risk of death, stroke, and heart failure, among others, and severely affecting patients'quality of life.Although there have been great progress in AF research in recent years,it is still unsatisfactory for its prevention and treatment. The reason is that its mechanism has a lot to do with its complexity.Recently, emerging studies has suggested the association of inflammasome with cardiovascular diseases, including AF.In this review,we systematically scan the relevant literatures covering basic and clinical studies on the role of NLRP3 inflammasome in the development of AF,including activation and mechanism in order to update the knownledge regarding the clinical management of AF.
