Objective To investigate the relationship between serum irisin and essential hypertension with coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods Fifty patients diagnosed with simple essential hypertension(EH group)and another fify patients diagnosed with essential hypertension combined with CHD confirmed by coronary angiography(EH+CHD group)at the Department of General Medicine of Linfen People's Hospital from August 2022 to October 2023 were recruited, and fifty cases of healthy gender and age matched subjects were selected as the normal control group. The fasting plasma glucose(FPG),blood lipid, uric acid were measured. The serum irisin level was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results The serum irisin levels were significantly decreased in the EH with CHD and EH groups compared to the normal control group[15.73(13.46,17.59)vs.16.37(15.30,18.63)vs.18.18(16.67,21.56)pg/ml,Z=-3.497,-2.24,P=0.00,0.025],and it was lower obviously in the EH with CHD group than in the simple EH group(Z=-2.011,P=0.044).The irisin level was negatively correlated with low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)and Gensini score(r=-0.269,P=0.038;r=-0.388,P=0.034).Irisin was the independent protective factors for CHD(OR=0.702,95%CI 0.540-0.913,P=0.008);age、uric acid was the independent risk factor for CHD(OR=1.078,95%CI 1.003-1.157,P=0.040);(OR=1.014,95%CI 1.005-1.023,P=0.002).Conclusion The level of serum irisin exhibits a strong association with both EH and CHD,and the reduced levels of irisin may play a significant role in the pathogenesis and progression of essential hypertension with CHD.
