Investigation on current situation of ametropia among freshmen of Nan-kai University
Objective To investigate the myopia ametropia status of freshmen at Nankai University in 2022,and to analyze the influencing factors of its occurrence and development.Methods A cross-sectional survey was used to select all freshmen in Nankai University as the research object,and the demographic characteristics of the freshmen such as age and gender were recorded,and the objective computerized optometry,visual acuity,height,weight and other data in the entrance physical examination were collected to analyze the differences in the detection rates of ametropia among freshmen in gender,grade,weight and other factors.Results A total of 8 502 students were surveyed,including 6 543(76.96%)with myopia and 1 878(22.09%)with high myopia.There were statistically significant differences in the detection rates of myopia among freshmen of different genders,different school stages and different weights(x2=11.284,x2=317.902,P<0.05).The detection rate of high myopia in boys was 23.1%,which was higher than that in girls(21.2%),and the difference was statistically signif-icant(x2=2.800,P<0.05).The detection rates of low-grade myopia,moderate myopia and high myopia among undergraduate freshmen were higher than those of master's and doctoral students.Conclusion The current situation of college students'vision is not optimistic,and the prevalence of middle and high myopia is high,which deserves attention.
