Investigation of students'knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention and treat-ment in a vocational college
Objective To investigate the knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment among students in a vo-cational college in Qiandongnan Prefecture to provide scientific evidence for reducing the risk of HIV/AIDS transmission in schools and proposing intervention strategies for campus education.Methods From November to December 2021,students in a vocational and technical college were selected by convenient sampling method to conduct a questionnaire survey on HIV health knowledge,and the chi-square test was used for analysis and comparison.Results In this survey,1 861 students were enrolled in the survey,and the overall awareness rate of HIV/AIDS prevention and control knowledge was 77.59%,in-cluding 69.79%of non-medical students and 83.75%of medical students,and the difference was statistically significant(x2=51.405,P<0.001).Less than 80%of students were aware of the severity of HIV/AIDS,the epidemic situation among young students in China,and the protection of the rights and interests of HIV/AIDS patients in China's laws.In terms of the way to obtain knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention and control,95.06%of the students explained through teachers,followed by on-line publicity(89.63%)and TV publicity(82.91%).Conclusion The awareness rate of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment knowledge among students in vocational colleges in Qiandongnan Prefecture needs to be improved,and the total awareness rate of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment knowledge among medical students is significantly higher than that of non-medi-cal students.
