Analysis of monitoring results of drinking water endemic fluorosis in Xu-zhou City in 2023
Objective To understand the implementation of prevention and control measures and the trend of dis-ease in the water-borne endemic fluorosis areas of Xuzhou City to provide evidence for the further development of prevention and control strategies of water-borne endemic fluorosis in Xuzhou City. Methods The operation of water improvement proj-ects and the detection of drinking water fluoride content in 833 villages in fluorosis areas of Xuzhou City were investigated, and the prevalence of dental fluorosis in children aged 8-12 was investigated. The detection rates of dental fluorosis were compared by x2 tests, and the trend of the detection rates of dental fluorosis in different age groups was tested by the Linear-by-linear Association trend x2 test. Results A total of 833 villages in the fluorosis areas were surveyed, and all of them had been renovated, and the normal operation rate of the fluoride reduction and water improvement project was 100%,and the qualified rate of fluoride content of drinking water was 100%.A total of 37 432 children aged 8-12 were examined for dental fluorosis, and 5 893 children were found to have dental fluorosis, with a detection rate of 15.74%.The detection rates of den-tal fluorosis in boys and girls were 15.10%and 16.48%,respectively,and the difference was statistically significant(x2=13.560,P<0.001).The detection rates of dental fluorosis in the 8-,9-,10-,11-,and 12-year groups were 10.80%,14.79%,16.24%,16.76%,and 17.33%,respectively,and the detection rate increased with age(x2trend=76.423,P<0.001).There was a statistically significant difference in the detection rate of dental fluorosis among children of different age groups(x2=98.056,P<0.001).The fluorosis index was 0.34,and the prevalence intensity of dental fluorosis was negative. Conclusion The implementation of fluoride reduction and water improvement measures in Xuzhou City has a good effect on the prevention and control of drinking water endemic fluorosis, and dynamic monitoring should be strengthened to continuously consolidate the prevention and control results.
