Blood pressure and nutritional status among junior high school students in Jinan City
Objective This study was aimed at analyzing blood pressure and nutritional status among junior middle school students in Jinan city,to provide a scientific basis for the prevention and control of common diseases in adolescents. Methods Data were collected from the physical examination information of all students at a middle school in Jinan City from 2021 to 2022.Height,weight and blood pressure data were collected and analyzed. The rates were compared withx2 tests. Results The detection rate of normal blood pressure was 51.10%,that of high blood pressure was 46.81%,and that of high blood pressure was 2.09%.Statistically significant differences were observed in blood pressure among genders, grades and ages(P<0.001).The detection rate of high normal blood pressure in boys(52.39%)was higher than that in girls(40.52%).The nutritional status among junior middle school students in Jinan City showed a statistically significant differ-ence between genders(P<0.001).Statistically significant differences in the detection rates of overweight(x2=17.109,P<0.001)and obesity(x2=47.703,P<0.001)were also observed between sexes. The detection rate of overweight and obesity in boys(21.16%,26.76%)was higher than that in girls(16.63%,15.11%).Significant differences in the detection rate of over-weight were found among grades and ages(x2=9.651,P=0.008;x2=19.026,P<0.001).The difference of normal blood pres-sure in junior high school students was statistically significant among students with different nutritional status(P<0.001).Pairwise comparison indicated that the detection rate of high normal blood pressure statistically significantly differed among students with different nutritional status(x2=22.068,P<0.001).The detection rate of high normal blood pressure was as follows, from highest to lowest:obese group,55.04%;hyper recombination,47.40%;normal group,43.76%;and emaciated group,41.67%.The detection rate of high blood pressure significantly differed by nutritional status(x2=33.512,P<0.001).The detection rate of high blood pressure was as follows, from highest to lowest:obese group,5.43%;hyper recombi-nation,2.31%;normal group,0.86%;emaciated group,0.00%.Conclusion Overweight and obesity are serious concerns among junior high school students in Jinan city, and their blood pressure status is not ideal.Intervention measures are necessary to prevent high blood pressure among junior high school students.
