Analysis of efficacy of sacral neuromodulation in treatment of refractory interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome
Objective To observe and evaluate the efficacy and safety of sacral neuromodulation(SNM)in the treat-ment of refractory interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome(IC/PBS).Methods SNM was performed on patients with refractory IC/PBS,including stage Ⅰ implantation experiential treatment and stage Ⅱ permanent implantation, and the uri-nary diary,O'Leary-Sant score, quality of life score, and Visual Analogue Score(VAS)were compared between stage Ⅱtreatment and before stage Ⅰ treatment. Results A total of 14 patients underwent SNM stage Ⅰ implantation surgery, and 8 of them had significant improvement in symptoms during the experiential period and were treated with stage Ⅱ permanent implantation. After stage Ⅱ surgery, the frequency of urination decreased(P<0.05),bladder pain was significantly relieved(P<0.05),and the quality of life was improved(P<0.05),but there were no obvious adverse reactions. Conclusion SNM treatment can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of patients with refractory IC/PBS,and the safety profile is high.
