Objective This study was aimed at understanding the characteristics of notifiable infectious diseases in children 0-14 years of age at a grade A tertiary hospital in Zhuhai City,to provide a scientific basis for formulating targeted prevention and control strategies. Methods The data for legal infectious diseases in children 0-14 years of age reported by a grade A tertiary hospital in Zhuhai City from 2016 to 2022 were collected and statistically analyzed through descriptive epidemiology. Results From 2016 to 2022,the hospital reported 13 152 cases of legal infectious diseases among children 0-14 years of age.The number of cases reported was highest in 2019(4 107 cases,31.23%)and lowest in 2020(939 cases,7.14%).The top three reported diseases were influenza(5 082 cases,38.64%),hand-foot-mouth disease(4 150 cases,31.55%),and other infectious diarrhea(3 065 cases,23.30%).The months with the highest incidence were April to July and December to January of the following year. The numbers of reported cases in children under three years old(5 377 cases,40.88%),3-5 years old(3 706 cases,28.18%),6-9 years old(2 507 cases,19.06%),and 10-14 years old(1 562 cases,11.88%)were assessed. The difference in the age distribution of reported cases in different years was statistically significant(x2=1 453.602,P<0.00 1).The number of cases reported in boys(7 624 cases,57.97%)was higher than that in girls(5 528 cases,42.03%),and a significant difference in the distribution of reported cases was observed in different years(x2=13.658,P=0.034).The number of reported cases was higher in scattered children(6 961 cases,52.93%)than nursery children(3 378 cases,25.68%)and students(2 813 cases,21.39%);the difference in the population distribution of reported cases in differ-ent years was statistically significant(x2=3 034.290,P<0.001).Conclusions Influenza,hand-foot-mouth disease, and other infectious diarrhea were common infectious dis-eases among children 0-14 years of age at a grade A tertia-ry hospital in Zhuhai City. The high incidence months were from April to July and from December to January of the following year.Boys, children younger than three years, and scattered children were the high incidence groups.Differences in the age, sex, and population distributions for reported cases were observed in different years.Prevention and control measures should be taken according to the different infectious disease characteristics.
