Association between childhood abuse experience and suicidal psychologi-cal behavior of college students in vocational colleges
Objective To investigate the association between childhood abuse and suicidal psychological behavior in college students, and provide a theoretical basis for reducing suicidal psychological behavior in college students.Meth-ods From October to November 2022,6 366 freshman and sophomore college students from a vocational college in Suzhou were selected using the cluster sampling method, and the"Childhood Abuse Rating Scale"was used to evaluate childhood abuse.A multivariate logistic regression model was established to analyze the impact of childhood abuse experience on sui-cidal psychological behavior. Results The detection rates of suicidal ideation and suicide attempts among college students were 8.4%and 1.4%,respectively.The incidence rates of suicidal ideation and suicide attempts among college students with childhood abuse experience were 21.8%and 3.7%,respectively,but the incidence rates of suicidal ideation and suicide at-tempts among college students without childhood abuse experience were 4.3%and 0.8%,respectively;the differences were statistically significant(x2=451.419,69.680;P<0.001).After controlling for the influence of relevant confounding factors,a multivariate logistic regression analysis model was established, and the results showed that childhood abuse was a risk factor for suicidal ideation and suicide attempts among college students(OR=5.790,95%CI:4.800~6.963;OR=4.611,95%CI:3.012~7.061;P<0.001).Conclusion Childhood abuse is an important risk factor for suicidal psychological behav-ior among college students, and reducing childhood abuse is likely to aid in the prevention and control of suicidal psy-chological behavior in this population.
