Classroom environmental hygiene monitoring in primary and secondary schools in the Banan District of Chongqing,2022-2023
Objective This study investigated the status of classroom environmental hygiene in primary and second-ary schools in the Banan District of Chongqing,to provide a reference for improving classroom environmental hygiene.Meth-ods Seven primary and secondary schools in urban and rural areas were selected through a stratified sampling method each year.Three or four monitoring classrooms were randomly selected from each grade at each school,to conduct a descriptive analysis of environmental health status.Results A total of 164 classrooms were monitored over two years.In the Banan Dis-trict of Chongqing,the blackboard size,blackboard surface illuminance uniformity,average illuminance of desk surface,and desk surface illuminance pass rate all exceeded 80%,whereas the classroom area per capita,blackboard reflection ratio,blackboard surface average illuminance,desk and chair distribution coincidence rate,and noise pass rate were all below 50%.The noise pass rate significantly differed among years(P<0.05).The classroom area per capita blackboard surface aver-age illuminance and noise pass rate significantly differed between urban and rural areas(P<0.05).The classroom area per capita blackboard reflection ratio,blackboard surface average illuminance,blackboard surface illuminance uniformity,desk surface average illuminance,desk and chair distribution coincidence rate,and noise pass rate significantly differed among classes(P<0.05).Conclusion Classroom environmental hygiene in primary and secondary schools in the Banan District of Chongqing must be improved.Relevant departments should strengthen supervision of the teaching environment.Moreover,schools should make appropriate adjustments to classrooms according to the monitoring results to protect the physical and mental health of primary and secondary school students.
