The status quo of physical activity and screen time of 820 college students in a city and their relationship with sleep quality
Objective This study was aimed at investigating the current status of physical activity,screen time,and sleep quality among college students in Qiqihar City through a cross-sectional survey,to explore the relationships among these parameters and to provide reference for improving sleep quality among college students.Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted regarding physical activity,screen time,and sleep quality status among 820 college students in Qiqi-har City in October 2023,through a convenience sampling method.T-test,analysis of variance,rank sum test,chi square test,and binary logistic regression were used for statistical analysis.Results The average screen time of the 820 college stu-dents was 7.95±2.78 h/d,663(80.85%)of whom had a screen time exceeding 6 h/d.The M(P25-P75)of total PA among col-lege students was 4365(2 602-6 636)MET-min/w.A total of 547 college students(66.7%)were in the high PA group,and 273 college students(33.3%)were in the medium-low PA group.The average PSQI score was 7.81±2.87.A total of 434(52.93%)college students had sleep disorders.Three independent factors were found to affect sleep quality:sedentary time[OR=1.108(1.050-1.168)],PA level[OR=1.606(1.188-2.170)],and major[OR=1.489(1.119-1.981)](all P<0.05).Conclu-sions College students in Qiqihar City have severe sleep disorders.The main factors leading to poor sleep quality among college students included prolonged sedentary time,high levels of physical activity,and non-medical majors.
