Epidemiological investigation and analysis of an influenza a outbreak in a primary school
Objective This study was aimed at conducting an epidemiological investigation analysis of an outbreak of influenza A in a primary school,to provide guidance for the prevention and control of influenza in schools. Methods Through a field epidemiological investigation, throat swab samples of affected students were collected for pathogen detection and case-control study analysis of the epidemic characteristics. Results A total of 96 cases of influenza-like illness were identified. The median isolation period was 3 days, and the average was 3.4 days, which was shorter than the average incuba-tion period(4.65 days).Of 15 throat swabs collected, seven samples were positive for H1N1 influenza virus, and three sam-ples were positive for H3 subtype influenza virus. Conclusions The outbreak was caused by influenza A virus.Schools should detect cases in a timely manner, standardize management, and strengthen monitoring of resuming classes and respira-tory isolation measures, such as wearing masks,in the event of influenza outbreak.
