Analysis of epidemiological characteristics of imported malaria in Fengx-ian from 2010 to 2023
Objective The epidemiological characteristics of imported malaria in Fengxian County were analyzed to provide a scientific basis for prevention and control strategies for imported malaria.Methods The epidemic information and case investigation data of imported malaria cases in Fengxian County from 2010 to 2023 were collected from the National Notifiable Communicable Disease Reporting System and the Information System for Parasitic Diseases Control and Preven-tion and were analyzed statistically.Results A total of 23 imported malaria cases were reported in Fengxian from 2010 to 2023,including 18 cases of Plasmodium falciparum malaria(78.26%),2 cases of P.vivax malaria(8.70%),and 3 cases of P.ovale malaria(13.04%).All reported cases were in males,who had an average age of 39.57 years old and were occupied mainly as migrant workers(65.22%).The source of the infection was mainly Africa(86.96%).The onset was not seasonal.The mean time interval from onset to first diagnosis was 2.09 days and six patients saw a doctor on the day of onset(26.09%).The mean time interval from initial diagnosis to final diagnosis was 1.52 days,and nine cases were confirmed on the first day of diagnosis(39.13%).The accuracy rate of the initial diagnosis was 56.29%and the rate of accurate initial diagnosis was sta-tistically significantly different at all levels of medical institutions(x2=6.028,P<0.05).The density of Anopheles sinensis mosquitoes is low in Fengxian County.Conclusions Falciparum malaria is the main imported malaria in Fengxian County.The patients are mainly young male migrant workers from Africa and the incidence of malaria is not seasonal.The rate of ac-curacy of the initial diagnosis is low.
