A comparative study on effects of Ginkgo biloba extract and Ginkgo flavonoid on Lipid Metabolism in SD Rats with hyperlipidemia
Objective:To carry out a comparative exploration of the effects of Ginkgo biloba extract and Ginkgo flavonoid on lipid metabolism in SD rats with hyperlipidemia. Methods:After the rats were orally administered with 5 g· kg-1 of Ginkgo biloba extract and 50,100,150 mg· kg-1 of Ginkgo flavonoid and high fat feed for 10 weeks, the contents of total cholesterol (TC),triglyceride (TG),high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL),aspartate aminotransferase (AST),and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in serum were measured, and the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C),atherosclerosis index (AI),and TC/HDL-C were calculated. Results:The contents of TC,TG,LDL-C and the index of AI,TC/HDL-C decreased significantly, and the contents of HDL-C increased significantly in Ginkgo biloba extract and Ginkgo flavonoid groups. Conclusion:The Ginkgo biloba extract and flavonoids can regulate blood lipid metabolism. In comparison,Ginkgo biloba extract has a stronger, faster, and more stable effect of reducing cholesterol, triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein.
