Patent-based topic mining and technology evolution analysis in the field of messenger ribonucleic acid delivery systems
Messenger ribonucleic acid(mRNA)delivery system is a key technology in developing the mRNA drugs, and it is also a focus of attention for domestic and foreign companies developing mRNA drugs at present. In this study, the Incopat database was applied as a data source to systematically analyze the technological focus and technological trajectory in the field of mRNA delivery systems using the methods of implied Dirichlet allocation(LDA)and the main path-derivative path analyses. The results of LDA clarify the key delivery vectors in this field, such as lipid nanoparticles(LNP)and the current status of the application of mRNA delivery technology. The results of the main path-derivative path indicated that the technological trend of mRNA delivery systems was divided into two phases, with the first stage mainly focusing on the development and structure optimization of mRNA delivery vectors, and the second one focusing on the clinical application of mRNA delivery systems. In addition,Moderna and Translate Bio are two of the most advantageous patentees in the main path-derivative path. The results of this study are helpful for enterprises to develop better mRNA delivery strategies and mRNA drug development pipeline.
