Experimental study on analgesic effects of Yunnan Baiyao Baoxianzi
Objective:To investigate the analgesic effects of Yunnan Baiyao Baoxianzi (BXZ).Methods:Writhing,hot-plate,tail-flick,formalin tests in mice and the model of osteoarthritis pain, inflammatory foot pain and postoperative incision pain in rats were used to observe the analgesic effects of BXZ.Results:Compared with the model group,BXZ could significantly reduce the number of acetic acid-induced writhes and shorten the second phase of the formalin test, but it had no effect on the first phase of the formalin test.BXZ had no significant effect on hot-plate and heat-radiation-induced pain in mice.BXZ could significantly inhibit the osteoarthritis pain induced by monosodium iodoacetate in rats and markedly improve the mechanical withdrawal threshold ( MWT) and thermal withdrawal latency ( TWL) in rats.BXZ could inhibit chronic inflammatory foot pain induced by carrageenan and significantly increase MWT and TWL in rats.BXZ could significantly inhibit the pain of postoperative incision and remarkably improve MWT and TWL in rats. Conclusion:BXZ can significantly inhibit the inflammatory pain in animals and can effectively relieve the pain caused by postoperative trauma but have no central analgesic activity under the conditions of this experiment.
