The preliminary observation of cryoablation therapy for persistent atrial fibrillation under the guidance of the Kodex-EPD system
Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of cryoballoon ablation in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation(AF)under the guidance of the Kodex-EPD three-dimensional mapping system. Methods From Janu-ary to June 2022,25 patients with persistent AF underwent cryoballoon ablation using the Kodex-EPD system at the Arrhythmia Center of Shenzhen Hospital,Fuwai Hospital. The patients were followed up for 12 months to monitor the recurrence of atrial arrhythmia. Results The pulmonary vein isolation rate for all patients was 100%.Among them,23 patients underwent pulmonary vein isolation in addition to left atrium top line ablation, resulting in the formation of a complete low voltage area at the pulmonary vein ostium and left atrium top.No severe surgical com-plications or vascular complications were recorded. At the end of the 12-month follow-up,19 patients(76%)main-tained sinus rhythm, while AF recurred in 6 patients(24%).Conclusion Cryoballoon ablation guided by the Ko-dex-EPD system for persistent AF demonstrates itself as an effective and safe strategy.[Chinese Journal of Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology,2024,38(2):79-82]
