A 3-year follow-up study on the effects of different ablation methods on quality of life and psychological state in patients with atrial fibrillation
Objective To investigate the effect of different ablation methods on their long-term postoperative qual-ity of life and psychological state of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF)after ablation. Methods Patients with AF who underwent ablation in our hospital from December 2018 to January 2020 were included and divided into two groups according to the different procedures:radiofrequency ablation group and cryoballoon ablation group.Patients were asked to fill out the Mos 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36),The AF Effect on Quality of Life (AFEQT),Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS)and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS)1 day before operation,3 months,6 months,1 year and 3 years after operation. Results ①A total of 204 patients completed the follow-up after the operation.Among them,110 male patients and 94 female patients with an average age(61.1±11.7),108 pa-tients treated with radiofrequency ablation and 96 patients treated with cryoballoon ablation.②After 6 months,1 year and 3 years after operation, the quality of life and mental state of patients were significantly improved after ab-lation.SF-36 scores showed that, except for physical pain and emotional function, other dimensions were significantly improved.Mental state such as anxiety, depression and other negative emotions were declined, and the difference was statistically significant.③Compared with the radiofrequency ablation group, the results of AFEQT and SF-36 scores in the cryoballoon ablation group showed that all dimensions were improved at 3 months after ablation (except for physical pain and emotional function); In terms of psychological status, the decrease in anxiety and depression and other bad emotions in the cryoballoon ablation group at 3 months after ablation decreased significantly, which was statistically significant. Conclusion ①The quality of life (except physical pain and emotional function)and psychological state of patients after ablation are improved.②The improvements in the quality of life, psychological status and multiple dimensions of the pa-tients undergoing cryoballoon ablation at 3 months after ablation are more significant than that of radiofrequency ab-lation.③There are no differences in quality of life and psychological status at 6 months,1 year and 3 years after the ablation.
