Objective To discuss the relationship between severity of coronary artery lesions and polymorphismof apolipoprotein E(ApoE)in patients with coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods The patients with stenosis of multiple vessels(≥2)of coronary arteries or their major branches on coronary angiography(CAG)were selected as the study subjects, with a stenosis rate ≥ 50%.After calculatedGensini scores according to CAG results, the patients were divided into GSlow group(Gensini scores<41),GSmid group(41≤Gensini scores<64)and GShigh group(Gensini scores ≥ 64).According to number of lesioned blood vessels, the patients were divided into single-vessel lesion group and multi-vessel lesion group. The general clinical materials,ApoEgenes and ApoE polymorphisms were collected from the patients. The relationship among ApoE polymorphisms,Gensini scores and number of lesioned blood vessels were compared among all groups. The risk factors of coronary artery lesions were analyzed by using Logistic regression analysis. Results There were totally 355 patients selected, and 148 in GSlow group,112 in GSmid group and 95 in GShigh group. There were 187 patients in single-vessel lesion group and 168 in multi-vessel lesion group. The results of polymorphism analysis showed that there was significant difference with statistical significance in ApoE polymorphism distribution in different Gensini groups(P<0.05).The proportion of patients with ε2 allele was significantly higher, and proportion of patients with e 4 allele was significantly lower in GSlow group than those in GShigh group(P<0.05).The results of polymorphisms analysis on different number of lesioned blood vessels showed that there was difference in distribution of 3 alleles of ApoE between single-vessel lesion group and multi-vessel lesion group(P<0.05).The results of binary Logistic regression analysis showed that ε2 allele was a protective factor for coronary vessel lesions, while ε4 allele was a risk factor. Conclusion ApoE polymorphisms are correlated to the occurrence and development of coronary artery lesions. The severity of coronary artery lesions is higher in CHD patients with e 4 allele, and it is speculated that ApoE polymorphisms may be correlated to the severity of coronary artery lesions.
