Single-arm meta-analysis on the impact of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation on the prognosis and complications in adult patients with fulminant myocarditis
Objective To evaluate the effect of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) on the prognosis and the complications of patients with Fulminant myocarditis (FM) by means of a meta-analysis.Methods PubMed,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,China Biomedical Literature Database,Wanfang Database and VIP database were searched by computer, and the references and related literatures were traced back from the establishment of ECMO database to November 30,2023.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, two researchers independently screened the literature, provided relevant data and evaluated the literature quality. Then, the relevant evidence was combed and analyzed.Stata 16.0 and Stata 14.0 were used for meta-analysis.Results A total of 15 literatures were included, involving 525 patients.Meta-analysis showed that the mortality rate in patients with fulminant myocarditis treated with ECMO was 31% (95%CI:0.27~0.36).However,some complications such as bleeding, multiple organ failure, and limb ischemia were also caused. Conclusion In the course of treatment of fulminant myocarditis, the mortality rate of patients receiving ECMO support treatment is 31%,and some complications may occur during the treatment.
