Objective To analyze the surgical treatment and clinical efficacy of 30 patients with primary external auditory canal carcinoma.Method A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 30 patients with primary external auditory canal carcinoma who had undergone surgical treatment from November 2011 to January 2022.The key points of treatment were summarized. The tumor specific survival rate(TSS)and tumor free survival rate(TFS)1 to 5 years after surgery were analyzed and evaluated. And the postoperative complications were observed.Result Among the 30 patients, there were 15 patients of squamous cell carcinoma(SCC)and 15 cases of adenocarcinoma(including adeno cystic carcinoma, cerumen adenocarcinoma and sweat gland carcinoma). The 1-,3-and 5-year TSS of SCC group were 92.3%,84.6%and 84.6%,respectively,and the TFS were 92.3%,84.6%and 84.6%,respectively.The 1-,3-and 5-year TSS of ceruminous carcinoma group were all 100%and the TFS were 92.3%,84.6%and 76.9%,respectively.There were 2 cases of postoperative incision infection and 1 case of transient posterior cerebral nerve paralysis, all of which recovered after treatment. Conclusion Thorough surgical treatment and adjuvant chemoradiotherapy have good effects on the treatment of external auditory canal carcinoma, and postoperative complications are controllable.
