The nasal mucosa epithelium plays a crucial role as the primary defense against pathogens and allergensin maintaining homeostasis through its mechanical barrier function, secretion of anti-microbial molecules, and induction of immune response.Chronic sinusitis is a highly heterogeneous inflammatory disease affecting the nasal cavity and sinuses. Its occurrence and development are linked to weakening innate immune function in the nasal mucosa epithelium and enhancement of type 2 inflammatory reaction.Epithelial cells exhibit significant diversity with various subtypes impacting nasal mucosa function differently. This article provides a review of research progress on the roles of nasal mucosa epithelial cells in chronic sinusitis with nasal polyps(CRSwNP),aiming to further investigate the pathogenesis of CRSwNP and explore the precise treatment methods.
